Vic: Police arrest man after woman's body found in backyard

MELBOURNE, Feb 10 AAP - Police are treating as murder the death of a woman whose body
was found buried in a backyard in Melbourne's west today.

The 53-year-old woman's body was unearthed about 4am (AEST) after it was found buried
at a home in Hogans Road, Tarneit.

A 41-year-old Tarneit man who lives in the house was arrested and is currently being
questioned by detectives at the St Kilda Road police headquarters.

The woman's body has been taken to coronial services.

About 9.30pm, last night, police visited the house after they were called to conduct
a welfare check on the woman.

They could not find her and, after receiving information from the man inside the home,
contacted the Homicide Squad.

No other people were at the house at the time.
