Ben Boka is at home in Barrington, trying to snap out of abatting slump and packing for a trip to the state American Legionfinals in Galesburg.
He'd rather be playing baseball in Florida.
But Boka and the Pittsburgh Pirates, who selected the 6-4,205-pound All-Chicago Area catcher in the fourth round of themajor-league draft in June, can't agree on a contract.
Boka says he is "90 percent sure" he will honor his scholarshipcommitment to attend Northwestern next month. But the Pirates haveuntil classes begin to change his mind.
