Hip hop convention focuses on political action

The 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention begins its four-day meeting today at the Jacob Carruthers Center for Inner-City Studies, 700 E. Oakland Blvd.

"Money, Power and Respect" is the convention's theme, and its mission is to educate and empower the hip hop generation.
